Departmental Space AV solutions present a wide variety of options and opportunities for our AV Services team due to the fact that they can include any space that a university department owns/manages and wishes to have equipment installed in.
This allows our customized solutions for these spaces to range from small conference rooms with a simple display on the wall to large conference rooms with a projector, microphones, and audio reinforcement; small classroom and instructional lab-style spaces with a simple lectern to present from up to large lecture hall-style spaces with multiple projectors, wireless microphones, and multiple lecterns with multiple document cameras.
Unlike campus Learning Spaces that have AV systems which are installed, maintained, and upgraded (based on a standard lifecycle replacement schedule) with the use of University funding, Departmental Space AV systems are funded fully by the department that owns/manages the space. This means that the installation, any requests for service/repairs, and the eventual upgrade of the system must be funded by the owning/managing department to ensure the system remains operational. We encourage all departments to budget for/follow the standard AV lifecycle replacement schedule of performing system upgrades every five to seven years. This will ensure reliability, provide consistency across campus systems, and allow for support of emerging technology/connectivity options as they are adopted.
