Effective August 21, 2023, Justin Greer will assume the role of Interim Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for Purdue University. Greer is succeeding CISO Anthony Newman, who has been appointed Executive Director for the Research & Education Networks Information Sharing & Analysis Center (REN ISAC).

Greer brings to the role more than 15 years of experience with Purdue Information Technology in various capacities including software developer, system engineer and security architect. He has served as Director, Enterprise Security, since 2020.

Reporting directly to the Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer (CIO), Greer will provide system-wide leadership and oversight of information technology security processes, policies and procedures, practices and services for Purdue University. In addition, he will anticipate and actively prevent new threats from occuring; consult with University leaders to identify  foreseeable internal and external risks to the security, confidentiality and integrity of University information; evaluate the effectiveness of the current safeguards for controlling these risks; design and implement ongoing safeguard programs and solutions, monitor and test those programs and recommend measures for program compliance; develop security and privacy policies that embody the best information security practices.

Greer earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer and Information Technology from Purdue University. He has numerous professional certifications including GISP, GSLC, GCFA and other technical and leadership credentials.
