Purdue’s Women in High-Performance Computing (WHPC) group, led by Research Computing staff members, is hosting an online “Introduction to Data and Data Processing” workshop on Friday April 1 from 2-3:30 p.m.

The workshop will be a beginner-level discussion about data, focusing on how data fits into machine learning and data science workflows. Topics will include types of data, data collection, data processing with Pandas and considerations for exploratory data analysis. 

Interested participants should register here by signing in and clicking “I’m interested in attending.” Purdue WHPC is sponsoring the training, but you do not need to be a member of the group to participate.

Purdue WHPC’s speaker series will return on April 15 at 2 p.m. (online). This month’s talk will feature two guests: 

• Ying Zhang is currently both a doctoral candidate and the AI Support Team Lead in research computing at the University of Florida, where she provides AI consultations to research groups. In 2020, she founded the UF Chapter of Women in HPC and organized campus wide activities to advance the participation of women in HPC and AI. She will discuss her experience in this space.

 

• Zoey Mertes is an undergraduate student studying Network Engineering Technology at Purdue. She has been a student employee in Research Computing for almost three years where she has been working on a filesystem indexer and cloud computing. She will discuss her experience at Purdue.
