In June, Purdue System Security plans to enact a geo-block for email that does not use Office 365 and Microsoft Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and is being sent from an international IP address. This is being done as part of the MFA deployment to ensure all University email is protected, including any sent outside of Office 365.

Jingjing Liang, an assistant professor of quantitative forest ecology in the department of forestry and natural resources, recently led a team that produced the first ever estimate of the total number of tree species in the world – and they did it with the help of Research Computing’s Bell community cluster supercomputer.

ITaP warns of recent email spear phishing efforts

ITaP is warning Purdue email account users of a recent increase in spear phishing activities. A few recent examples involve individuals creating email accounts using services such as Gmail with an address, display name, and signature that impersonate Purdue personnel. The attackers then send targeted messages to individuals in the same department requesting information from the recipient.

Research Computing senior scientist awarded $25,000 Better Scientific Software fellowship
