Purdue earns certification in three areas from International Standards Organization (ISO)

Purdue University earned the following ISO certifications, effective May 24, 2024: ISO 9001 (Quality Management System), ISO 27001 (Information Security Management System) and ISO/IEC 20000-1 (Service Management System). ISO certification is a credential that shows a product, process, service, or system meets specific quality, safety or efficiency standards defined by the International Standards Organization, a non-governmental organization that sets specifications for various industries.

“Purdue University is one of the first higher education institutions in the U.S. to earn certification of three ISO standards focused on delivering high-quality IT services.” said Joe O’Neil, Director of IT Quality Assurance and PMO at Purdue University. “In addition, according to data from the ISO Institute, as of 2022 only four other educational institutions globally were certified in ISO 20000-1. Purdue is leading the way.”

ISO 9001: The Quality Management System (QMS) of using standards to consistently provide Software Development, Enterprise Services, Support Services and Product Development that meet customer and regulatory requirements.

ISO 27001: The Information Security Management System (ISMS) which provides the framework and guidelines for information security of software development, enterprise services, support services and product development.

ISO 20000-1: The IT Service Management System (SMS) defining the requirements and continuous improvement of software development, enterprise services, support services and product development.
