Chief Information Officer and Vice President of Information Technology

Ian Hyatt was named Purdue's chief information officer (CIO) and vice president of information technology in June 2021. He oversees IT services across the Purdue system, which includes cybersecurity, end user experience, IT enterprise reporting, IT infrastructure services, academic IT services and distributed campus services, as well as research services and support.

Prior to Purdue, Hyatt was the vice president of global services, logistics and fleet for IGT Providence and held several other vice president roles within IGT. In May 2022, he retired as the State Command Chief Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force and Rhode Island Air National Guard, where he served since 1985.

Chief Master Sgt. Hyatt's 37-year military career and his lengthy executive experience in information technology are the bedrock of Purdue IT's continuing modernization and innovation. Purdue IT operates the Purdue System Cloud, the IT infrastructure that spans the main campus and two satellite campuses, and offers a nationally recognized high-performance computing complex that supports Purdue's computational research.
